UA women’s coach eyeing Georgia job Published: Tuesday, May 22, 2007 PRINT E-MAIL FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas Coach Kelley Hester said she is interested in the women’s golf head coaching vacancy at Georgia, her alma mater. Hester is in her fifth season at Arkansas and took the Lady Razorbacks to NCAA Championships appearances in 2005 and 2006. Junior Stacy Lewis will compete in the individual competition at this year’s championships beginning today. Todd McCorkle resigned from Georgia on May 7, and a week later, The Associated Press reported players had filed complaints about his inappropriate sexual comments and jokes. McCorkle was hired in June 2000 and led Georgia to its first-ever national championship in 2001. The Bulldogs won SEC titles in 2001 and 2007, and are ranked third entering the NCAA Championships. Hester played at Georgia from 1991-1995. She said she’s focusing on her duties as coach at Arkansas, but that her contract allows her to pursue the Georgia job if the opportunity presents itself. “I think it would be flattering to be considered for that job, and it may just come down to who Georgia is looking for to fill the position,” Hester said. “It’s not very often in a coach’s career that they might have the opportunity to coach at their alma mater, let alone one of the top five programs in the country. We’ll just have to see.” Yesterday's Most Popular 1. THE RECRUITING GUY : 3 UA recruits on display at all-star event 2. ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS VS.
