WHO South Carolina vs. Arkansas WHEN 12: 05 p.m. Central today WHERE Baum Stadium, Fayetteville RADIO Arkansas Razorback Baseball Network, which includes KFAY-AM, 1030, in Fayetteville; KURM-AM, 790, in Springdale / Rogers; KWBF-FM, 101. 1, in Little Rock; KHGG-FM, 103. 1, in Fort Smith and KOMT-FM, 107. 5, in Mountain Home PITCHING MATCHUP South Carolina: Blake Cooper (RHP, 5-4, 3. 72 ERA ); Arkansas: Dallas Keuchel (LHP, 3-2, 4. 37 ). Cooper pitched at least six innings in his first six SEC starts before allowing 5 earned runs on 7 hits in 5 innings in a loss to LSU last week. Keuchel has a 5. 59 ERA in 6 SEC starts and allowed 4 runs in 3 / 3 innings against Alabama in his last outing May 2. SHORT HOPS Arkansas sophomore shortstop Scott Lyons, who was a late scratch from Friday’s game after sustaining a hamstring injury in pregame warm-ups, isn’t available today for much more than bunting duties as a pinch-hitter. “We haven’t tested him,” Coach Dave Van Horn said. “He didn’t take any ground balls or hit. I put him in a hitting group and [when he didn’t take batting practice ] he was kind of telling me he’s not ready.”... After his dramatic grand slam in the ninth inning of Friday’s game, Jacob House seemed like a logical pinch-hitter for struggling Sean Jones in the seventh inning Saturday. But Jones hit for himself and got just enough of a Craig Thomas pitch to drop in a bloop RBI single just beyond the reach of Gamecocks second baseman Scott Wingo, extending Arkansas ’ lead to 5-3 and raising Jones’ average to. ©. “If it had been tied, I’d have pinch hit,” Van Horn said. “But he’s our best [outfield ] defender. We had a onerun lead, and I was confident in our pitching staff and Jones was due. So what the heck.” Arkansas won 6-3.... South Carolina’s Reese Havens, Justin Smoak, James Darnell and Phil Disher entered the series with a combined 73 home runs, but they have accounted for only one extra-base hit through two games — Havens hit a home run Saturday. The start of the game was delayed 40 minutes by heavy rains that swept through Fayetteville early Saturday afternoon.
