Women’s teams adopt Razorbacks nickname

FAYETTEVILLE — As part of the merger of Arkansas’ men’s and women’s athletic departments, all of its teams now will be known as Razorbacks, Athletic Director Jeff Long said Friday.

Arkansas’ women’s teams previously were known as the Lady Razorbacks.

“As we come together as one department and one program, you’ll see us using the term ‘ Razorbacks, ’” Long said. “We’re all Razorbacks, and that’s something you’ll see more of in the future.”

The change means any uniforms, merchandise, facilities, etc., bearing the name Lady Razorbacks will be changed to Razorbacks.
