Defensive tackle Brandon Jackson, 6-4, 270, 4.95, of Shreveport Evangel, has orally committed to Arkansas.

"I wanted to jump on Arkansas in case no other schools offered me," said Jackson, who recently finished his junior season. "If no other schools offer me then I'll have Arkansas which is one of the schools I like. If it was at this point in my senior year and I had to make a decision, I would take Arkansas 100 percent."

Jackson made an unofficial visit to Arkansas for the Tulsa game. He said Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Kansas, Louisiana Tech and others are showing interest.

Jackson said he talked to Arkansas assistant coach Bobby Allen about two weeks ago.

"He sounded Ok with it but he wanted me to make sure I keep my eyes on Arkansas," Jackson said.

Arkansas defensive back Ramon Broadway is Jackson's cousin.

"I told him about the offer and what I've done," Jackson said. "I saw him and his dad at Christmas and told them. Ramon was excited."

Jackson becomes Arkansas' second oral commitment for the 2010 class. Oral commitments are nonbinding.
