Former Hog McBride hired to help FHS

Published: Thursday, July 26, 2007 PRINT E-MAIL

Springdale offensive coordinator Jared McBride will leave the Bulldogs for an assistant coaching position at Fayetteville, Springdale coach Kevin Johnson confirmed Wednesday.

McBride, a former quarterback at Arkansas, spent one season at Springdale.

Fayetteville coach Daryl Patton declined comment, but McBride’s hiring is expected to be made official at a Fayetteville school board meeting tonight.

“ Coach Patton had told me that he was talking to him, and that was Coach McBride’s decision, ” Johnson said. “ He liked what he told him, and we wish him the best of luck. ”

Johnson said he won’t add another assistant for now with fall practice beginning next week. A permanent offensive coordinator will be hired after the season. Assistant Eli Drinkwitz is Springdale’s interim offensive coordinator and will be calling the plays, Johnson said.

McBride will replace Rick Davies on Patton’s staff. Davies, who coached running backs, left to join the staff of fellow 7 A-West Conference member Springdale Har-Ber.
