FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas baseball player Jayson Jones will transfer to Oklahoma State, he announced on his Instagram page Wednesday.

Jones, a rising junior, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Cowboys. He entered the NCAA transfer portal June 17.

“All glory to God! I will like to thank everyone who has supported me and have been in my corner. I couldn’t be anymore [grateful]! With that being said GO POKES!!!” Jones wrote.

Jones started 18 games in left field and once in right field this year for the Razorbacks. He started games at first base, third base and designated hitter as a freshman.

Ranked as Baseball America's No. 8 high school recruit in the class of 2022, Jones struggled to stay in Arkansas’ lineup with a career batting average of .195. He played in 43 games during his two seasons.

Jones was 14 of 72 with 4 home runs, 3 doubles, 8 walks and 17 RBI in 23 games this year. He struck out 26 times (36.1%).

Jones contributed to both of the Razorbacks’ two biggest comebacks of the season. He went 2 for 4 and scored once (and a pinch runner also scored in place of Jones) during a 9-8 victory over Texas Tech on April 16 after the Razorbacks trailed 7-0.

His two-run home run contributed to a 9-6 victory over Mississippi State on May 12 when Arkansas overcome a 6-0 deficit.
